Rev. Amanda Stein

I am so pleased with this opportunity to get to know all of you and be in ministry with you.

I began my ministry at Trinity United Methodist Church in July 2001. I had just returned from long-term volunteering in Latin America. As I returned to the US seven months pregnant, I was excited to be a first-time pastor (and relieved to have health insurance!). I served at Trinity for ten years before being appointed to Sun Prairie United Methodist Church as one of its pastors.

I have two great, energetic boys, Zane and Xavier. The whole family is excited by the idea of having a church family back within the limits of the city! We're looking forward to being in church together and then maybe going to Sophia's on E. Johnson for brunch!

I have been thrilled to hear about mission being at the heart of ministry at Bashford. Mission is where my heart is as well! The core of Jesus' ministry was to reach out -- to care, heal, and teach others. I couldn't be more pleased to begin to learn and share about mission and so much more with all of you at Bashford!

After completing graduate work at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, he returned to Madison and began working at Bashford UMC in August, 1992. He and his wife Sally enjoy working in their garden, traveling, and being outdoors.

Barb Koston

Office Manager

My name is Barb Koston. I have lived in the Madison area my entire life. I am married to my wonderful husband, Steve, and we have 2 beautiful children, Tyler and Alyssa. I attended MATC, graduating with an Associates degree in Insurance Services, and proceeded to work in the insurance industry for 22 years. I am a devoted Christian, an active member of my church, and am very involved in my children's private school. I am happy to be here at Bashford, and look forward to serving the Lord and others through my work here.

Kory Douglass

Coordinator of Adult Ministries & Congregational Care

It is a blessing to serve as the deacon at Bashford UMC. I am what is known as a "provisional" deacon, which means I am in the process of gaining experience to become an ordained deacon in the future. In the United Methodist Church deacons are kind of like pastors, but they serve as a bridge of sorts between the church and the world. At Bashford I organize our congregational care, lead classes, preach sometimes, and do other things. I hope everyone who comes into Bashford can feel the warm, loving care of God, whether they realize it or not.

As for my educational background, I have a Master of Theological Studies degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. I also have an MA in English (Literature, Criticism, and Textual Studies) from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. For my undergraduate studies I went to UW-Madison.

When I'm not at Bashford, I enjoy being connected with my family and my fiancée Claire, who also is a UMC clergyperson. I enjoy art (from paintings to video games), listening to podcasts, and spending time with friends at Sencha Tea Bar.
